Essentially once user has subscribed to iPage, the package offered by the web hosting company includes UNLIMITED disk space, bandwidth, email and databases. Of course, when it is quoted UNLIMITED, there is always a different definition than what we normally perceived. It is advised to go through the terms and conditions first before deciding on the subscription. The detailed T&C is available and easy to access through their homepage.
As iPage subscribers are sharing the spaces and storage provided by the web host, it is logical that a standard T&C applies. When stated as ‘Unlimited’, the true meaning is that iPage does not put in a specific limitation to each user. The web host has a tracker to all subscribers on the usage, and there is a assumption made that the purpose or objective for each account is for standard usage, i.e. setting up blog page, marketing or advertising a website or for small business purposes. In the event any account’s activities exceed the normal usage that is deemed as inconsistent with other subscribers’ normal usage patterns, users could either face interruption or may be required to pay a higher sum aside from the monthly subscription fee. A more severe cost would be account termination by iPage without prior notice. This of course is reserved as the last course of action if users continuously ignore their early warnings issued to them earlier.
Well to be fair, to iPage and its subscribers, T&C must be applied no matter how! Certain limitations are definitely necessary to control the usage as it is a shared hosting service. Service quality should be the first priority to each and every users, rather than satisfying one or 2 users who mess up the service quality of others with their over-limit usage like huge traffic amount. A scam? I would say it’s a management!
It’s a good artical. really useful
I am going to join I Page should I?
The whole “unlimited-everything” and “full-refund-at-anytime” policy is just a marketing gimmick. I highly recommend that people who are at least a little bit technically inclined sign up for VPS hosting which offers much greater flexibility and the prices have come down quite a bit. Try it out for a month before you buy though!

They stole $23.99 from me. I canceled the host because I couldn’t do pretty much anything with the service. They limited to a website of just 6 pages. I couldn’t use css or html without upgrading and couldn’t add a forum page. It was to be made as another website. Also, they said the $23.99 was not refundable because they bought the domain for me and kept it for a year. That means I cannot remake the website with the same domain. They guaranteed money back. Then, they should give me back the money. What the scam! I think that they should be sued.
